KAL 4837 012 Schubert, Franz (1797-1828) Sonata in a minor “Arpeggione”, D. 821 This Sonata was composed in the 1800’s for a now defunct instrument, the Arpeggione, which was somewhere between a cello, a bass viola de gamba, and a guitar. It was only popular for a decade or so, but this sonata is a real gem, and too delicious to abandon. Though commonly played on cello, and sometimes by violists, it translates well to the bass, and off e rs a wonderful Romantic flavor to your repetoire.
